Regular nail clipping should be part of the routine care of your pet. It is essential for elderly and indoor pets. The requirement for nail trimming can vary depending on breed, age, level of exercise and the environment in which your pet is kept.
Fleas, ticks and worms are common parasites that are seen infesting our companion animals. Regular treatment and education will help you and your pet avoid hosting any unwanted visitors as well as keeping your pet happy and healthy.
Owners often find difficulty medicating their pets following surgical procedures or vet visits due to many reasons such as resistance from their pet, however, it is important for pets to complete their prescriptions for the best results.
ANAL GLAND EXPRESSION
Signs of impacted anal glands include dogs scooting their bum on the ground, licking their anal area or chasing their tails while cats will often lick the fur off just under their tails. Infections or abscesses are likely to develop if not treated.
I will work with veterinarians to provide in-home veterinary nursing care following surgical procedures including suture removal. A written report can be sent upon request to your regular practice to be added to your pet's file.
Along with regular exercise and veterinary care, careful nutrition is the best way you can contribute to your pet’s prolonged good health. A nutrition consult consists of an initial assessment followed by an appropriate plan relative to your pet's results.
Knotted or matted fur can cause discomfort for your pet and can often lead to different behaviour. With the right clippers and grooming tools, I can remove any knots or mats safely without the need for sedation or general anaesthetics.
Just like humans, pets’ teeth need looking after too! The health of their teeth and gums has a significant impact on their overall quality of life. Following a dental check, I can develop an appropriate plan following your pet's results and offer advice and referrals if necessary.
Education is one of the most important jobs I will acquire as a veterinary nurse whether it be to my clients or the general public. If you are a new or upcoming pet owner requiring new pet advice or a teacher wanting help educating children about pets, I am available.
